Fashion storytelling in film provides heartfelt dialogue across cultural and geographical borders.

Born in the US and growing up in India, I cherished my exposure to fashion from East to West. At a young age, I had the opportunity to travel around the world including Thailand, France and Japan. During my travels, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the fabrics of the world—from Thai silks to French Chantelle lace to Indian Benarsi fabrics—each uniquely beautiful in its own way. My fashion inspiration has always been my mother, who ran an Indian clothing boutique out of our home in India. As a teenager, I not only participated, but helped her plan her first international fashion show in Arizona and it was truly a dream come true.

My love for fashion goes hand-in-hand with my love for cinema. In the early 90s, I remember being the first family in our neighborhood to own a VCR. This opened my eyes to the global cinema. I remember spending hours watching Charlie Chaplin, Bruce Lee’s karate films and old Bollywood films. This inspired me to take film appreciation courses during my undergraduate degree at ASU—to truly understand the creative process of making a film.

My passion for fashion and film have helped me develop into a creative storyteller. As a global marketing professional, I have helped international brands such as British Airways, Penguin Books, IBM, Intel and World Trade Centers’ Association create personalized brand stories and experiences.
